Year 2 Showcase Assembly 2026

Year 2 were proud to welcome parents, carers and the rest of the school to their recent assembly based on their History unit, How Did We Learn to Fly?

During the assembly, the children confidently shared lots of fascinating facts they had learnt throughout the topic. They explained who the Wright Brothers were and why their first successful flight was such an important moment in history. The children also spoke about Bessie Coleman and her achievements as the first Black woman and first Native American woman to gain a pilot’s licence, as well as learning about Amelia Earhart and her inspiring aviation accomplishments.

The assembly also explored why the Moon Landing was such a special event and how inventions and discoveries over time have helped humans learn to fly. The children impressed the audience with their clear speaking, enthusiasm and excellent knowledge of the topic.

As part of their learning, the children also linked their topic work to Computing by using Scratch to create their own moving animations, demonstrating their growing coding and digital skills in a creative way.

After the performance, parents and carers were invited to look through the children’s books to see the fantastic work they have been completing in Year 2. It was lovely for the children to share their learning and celebrate their achievements with their families.

Well done, Year 2, on a fantastic assembly and for sharing your learning so confidently!
