World Book Day 2026
A Fun-Filled World Book Day 2026
World Book Day 2026 was a little different this year, with both children and staff celebrating by wearing their pyjamas for a cosy themed day. The school was filled with excitement as pupils spent time reading their favourite books, many accompanied by their cuddly teddies.
The highlight of the day was a very special visit from a real-life author, Carol McMahon. Carol visited Year 2 to read her short stories and talk to the children about her love of books and writing. She then joined some of the other children in the hall to share more stories, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. It was a wonderful opportunity for pupils to meet a real author - and even more special as Carol is Rose’s grandma in Year 2.
Throughout the day, there were lots of exciting activities taking place across the school. Children designed their own book covers, drew their favourite book characters, re-enacted scenes from their favourite books, where children had to guess the story. Some classes took part in the BBC Live Lesson created especially for World Book Day. It was a busy and creative day, filled with lots of wonderful learning and imagination.
Parents and carers were also invited into school to share a reading session with their child, which was enjoyed by everyone involved.
The PTFA organised the Burty Bar Golden Ticket raffle, where children could purchase a chocolate bar for £1.50. Some lucky bars contained a Golden Ticket, leading to extra-special prizes. All funds raised will go towards providing additional resources and experiences for the school.
In addition, the book swap was a great success. Children brought in books they no longer needed and swapped them at the end of the school day. Donation buckets were also available, with all proceeds supporting the school’s Eco Club. We will keep you posted on how much was raised.
A huge well done to all the children, staff and families for helping to make World Book Day 2026 such a memorable and enjoyable event.
