Year 2 Create Algorithms in Computing Lesson
During their recent computing lesson, Year 2 pupils engaged in a practical activity where they designed mazes using cubes.
The task was to create a set of clear, precise instructions, an algorithm, to navigate through the maze successfully.
Working in pairs, the students applied the High Performance Learning (HPL) values of flexible thinking and creative enterprise. This collaborative effort required them to think critically and creatively as they developed solutions for their maze challenges.
The lesson provided a hands-on introduction to the concept of algorithms, enabling pupils to understand the importance of clear instructions in problem-solving. It also emphasised teamwork, as pupils worked together to refine their strategies and ensure their algorithms worked as intended.
By the end of the session, Year 2 pupils had not only deepened their understanding of computational thinking but also enhanced their communication and collaboration skills, making the activity a valuable part of their learning experience.
Well done Year 2!
